Chandelier Making Class

And then there was light (or there will be, once you finish making your lamp, chandelier, or illuminated sculpture).

An epic class, learning to weld, wire for electricity, and do a bunch of tube bending. Whether your style is wrought iron or modernist, we’ve got the tools and ability to help you realize a beautiful light fixture for your space. To start the chandelier class, we’ll first make a lamp, learning to hot bend with the flame torch, weld with the mig, and then learn some basic electrical to wire it all together.  From then on, it’s guided project time.

Note: Unless you’re really ambitious, most people tend to make lampshade kinds of pieces using a standard pendant light for the socket (with a standard plug).  If you choose to make a chandelier that’ll be hardwired into the wall or ceiling, you really ought to call an electrician to certify the connections and wire it up for you.  That said, you can make some really cool looking lampshades, lamp shrouds, and lighting fixtures.

And for inspiration, here’s a bunch of pictures of chandeliers to get your mind going (link). What kind of light does your house or apartment need?

Class Details: Six session class building one predesigned lamp base and one personal project.  Three basic sockets are included, but fancy edison bulbs or brass sockets are not.  Instruction fee is $210, Materials and shop fee is $195 (Total: $405)  Note about wait lists.
Requirements: Intro MIG is recommended, but not required (though you should have some experience with power tools and be able to see decently in the dark if you skip intro MIG). Six students max. Must be 18 or older.  Standard clothing.

Refund/Rescheduling Policy:

Cancellation Policy: We hope you can make the class, but things happen.  If you need to cancel, we can refund your money 7 days ahead of the start of the class (minus a $25 registration fee).  You can reschedule the class 48 hrs before the start of the class.  There are no refunds or rescheduling 48 hrs after that.
For six week classes, the first two classes cover the most critical material.  If you miss one of those, we’ll need you to make it up with a private lesson before continuing on with the class (at a discounted rate of $45/hr).  After the first two, you can make up one class for free during open shop hours when it’s slower (so not Weds or Saturdays).  After that, regular open shop rates apply.  There are no refunds after the first class of a multi-session class.
