Wanna take your MIG welding game to the next level? In this series, we’re going to cover advanced MIG welding technique: thick plate, flux core, aluminum, and go deeper into the mig welding chart. Three nights, lots of hands-on practice, and lots more skills.
Thick Plate and Advanced Fillets
Learn to work with steel from 1/8″ up to 1/2″.
Learn how to treat hot roll steel to make it easier to weld.
Learn to prep layouts, grind, and finish so that you can overbuild just about anything.
Learn to do advanced fillets, on thin and thick, on round and square tube, and even how to get into those tiny acute angles.
Thin Sheet
Learn to work with sheet metal from 18gauge all the way down to 26 gauge steel.
Learn to set it up the machine, what kinds of joints will keep you from burning through, and how to do plug/rosette welds (which leave zero visible weld–trick!).
Learn to use the spot welder.
Aluminum and Flux Core
Learn to prep aluminum for welding with a mig welder, how to set up the spool gun and gasses, and how to weld it.
Learn to grind aluminum with safety and ideal finish in mind (it’s softer and clogs sandpaper).
Learn to use flux core for steel, to stink up your driveway, impress your neighbors, and do all sorts of outdoor, high-strength, low-cost welding.
