Makelympics Weekend 2017

Makelympics Weekend 2017

Back for 2017, a full weekend of workshops, with one class each at the fabulous workshops of Adam’s Forge, Community Woodshop, the Glass Studio, and Molten Metal Works.

In four classes, you’ll learn to forge a bottle opener at Adam’s Forge, cut and mill wood to make the tray body at Community Woodshop, cut and form glass for coasters at the Glass Studio, and learn to cut, weld, and bend metal for the tray frame at Molten Metal Works, putting together a bar set worthy of bragging.  After it all, we’ll celebrate at happy hour on Sunday, and you can regale you others with your heroic blacksmith tales or console one-another with glass-cutting foibles.

Class Details: Classes will be held on Sat and Sun: two on Saturday (10am-1pm, 2pm-5pm) and two on Sunday (10am-1pm, 2pm-5pm), with a happy hour at 5pm to celebrate (and test out) your new creations.  $320 for the weekend.  6 students per class session. (updated 7/2–No more Friday class)

Prerequisites: No prerequisites but you should be comfortable using power tools and not squeamish with loud noises, sparks, or fire. Participants must wear long sleeve cotton shirts and cotton pants/jeans without holes. Pants must cover the tops of your shoes. Please also wear leather or canvas shoes (zero nylon/synthetic materials on the shoes—vans, work boots, cowboy boots—all good). All safety equipment will be provided. 18 or older and be in sufficient physical condition (no pacemakers and be able to stand for three hours at a time, possibly while swinging a hammer), and have enthusiasm for doing fun stuff.

Refund/Rescheduling Policy: We hope you can make the class, but things happen. If you need to cancel, we can refund your money 7 days ahead of the start of the class (minus a $25 registration fee). You cannot reschedule this class or exchange it for any other class. There are no refunds or rescheduling within 7 days. By not budgeting for missed classes, we can keep the prices as low as possible for everyone.
